New Head Coach – 1/3/2018

Hartlepool Lawn Tennis Club welcomes a new head coach. Ben, who lives in the town, is a former member of the club and will be splitting his time between Hartlepool and Newcastle.

Ben started playing tennis at the age of 7 and has excelled in the sport, having won a scholarship in his teens to the prestigious Sutton Tennis Academy and having won a host of national opens and competitions over the years. As a full-time level 3 coach, Ben has experience of working with adults and children and has delivered full programmes, including: special needs sessions, squads, mini tennis and school coaching.

Not only is Ben an experienced coach but he’s also a very gifted player. He’s in the final of league one in the LTA Durham and Cleveland League.

Paul Asensio, club secretary, says “Ben is one of the most gifted coaches and players Hartlepool has had in a generation. It is a real boost to the club and the town to welcome Ben to Hartlepool Lawn Tennis Club. We know the whole club will make Ben feel very welcome. Set sessions will be announced but anybody who would like to organise private sessions should contact me and I will put you in touch with Ben.”

130th Garden Party – 19/8/2017

We celebrated our 130th anniversary with a garden party held at the club on Saturday 19th August. A great time was had by all, with many trying their luck at the coconut shy, tombola and raffle. The cake stall was a huge success, given that not one of the many delicious cakes baked and donated to us were left over.

A mixed doubles tournament was also held and the winners, Lewis Clark and Lyn Grylls, are pictured here with Ken Lupton (Club President) who presented them with their prizes.

We’re Celebrating 130 Years! – 1/4/2017  130th

Founded in 1887, our club is celebrating 130 years this year. We have a number of social events planned, including a gala dinner at The Grand Hotel on Saturday 29th April, starting at 7pm. As well as a three course meal followed by tea and coffee, we’ll have live music from the amazing ‘Happy Go Luckies’ band. There will also be awards, an exclusive raffle and a wine grab. At just £26 per person, please get your glad rags on and support this event. With plenty of friends from the club, feel free to buy just a single ticket for yourself, invite a partner too or even extend the invite to friends and family. It promises to be a fantastic night!

If you manage a business, know somebody who does, or would like to personally support the club, please consider sponsoring an award… or the event itself. Contact Paul Asensio (Club Secretary) on 07403269307.

Tickets are available from members of the committee, by messaging our Facebook page, by calling Paul Asensio on the number above or by emailing to arrange (click here). You can also add your name, your contact number, and the number of tickets you would like, to the form on the notice board in the clubhouse. We’ll get in touch.
